Portable DVD player screens

I see on ebay there are tons of "bad" portable dvd (w/good LCDs) players for sale- often for less than $30 US. Some of these also have composite and/or s-video inputs. Is there any reason that the appropriate sized screen fitted into a CC or other compact Mac with, say, the body of a Powerbook or iBook stuffed inside (that has matching video out capabilities) couldn't be connected up to the dvd screen? Sounds just too easy to be true. What do you guys think?

Yes it would work if the circ

Yes it would work if the circuitry for that connection still worked. But most portable DVD screens are very low resolution so if you want to use it for a compter monitor it wouldn't look very good.

To put it simply- no.

If the complete DVD player has analogue video (TV format) inputs* to drive the screen from another device, and it's just the optical drive that's gone bad, you could get it to run from a Mac AV output, but not from a monitor output. And as mentioned, the resolution is lousy.

*or if you can find them internally
