Working with Appleworks and Applescripts

We are trying to take photos shot at 640x480 resolution and reduce them by 50% and invoke the "save as" dialog box using AppleScript with the idea of building a workflow around this script.The problem I am having is getting the Applewoks 6 drawing window to work. The other problem is when you save a photo as a jpg it will give you the "jpg options". I am not sure of you can do this in applescript. " jpg options"
