I just recently had a slot-loading iMac die on me with a DVD disk still in the DVD drive. Is there any way to get the DVD disk out of the DVD drive? The iMac does not power-up at all. I've already removed the drive from the case. thanks

You're going to need to either install the drive into something that will give it power, or disassemble it. Slotload drives do have an "emergency eject" button, but the drive needs to be powered for it to work. There's no mechanical linkage you can push on with a paper clip to force the disc out, like with tray-load drives.
