iBook g3 Software Update

I have an iBook G3 800mhz 640mb 12in. It was running 9.2. I installed a 512 memory card which took my memory to 640. I tried installing OS 10.2, but the 2nd disc gave an error that said this monitor would not run OSX. The display shows the desktop but it only uses a small portion of the screen, the rest is black.
