Apple IIgs Error message, but still works

I turn on my new IIgs, it reads the disk and boots fine. But I started to get an error message that says "UNABLE TO START UP FROM MEMORY CARD" ... But it still boots and works fine! What's wrong with it?

I forgot to mension! I have an AST SprintDisk card that I put in, and it is brand new also, what does it do? Maybe it is just saying there is nothing to boot on it... It holds, 508K. Just saying in case you need to know. Thanks!

Sounds like a ram disk card, and it doesn't have a boot sector or DOS on it to boot from. Did you plug it into slot 7, by chance? If so, it's going to try to boot off of that (unsuccessfully) before it hits any of your floppies.

Startup attempts start at slot 7 and work their way down. If you want to boot off of something other than that ram disk, you would want it to move it to a slot lower than your floppy disk controller(s).
