i have an old Syquest SparQ 1gb external cartridge drive, its a parallel port configuration. Searched the web, but nothing came up, so i'd like to know if anybody here can tell me if i can plug this drive into the parallel port of the //c and use it as an external drive? any help would be appreciated.

Parallel - as in PC parallel port? Nope, won't work even a little, even if you had a parallel port on an Apple.
The //c doesn't have a parallel port, so that would make it especially hard. Hard drive options for //c computers are especially hard to come by. There were only a few that could plug into the SmartPort disk drive connector... Chinook CT-20c, Sequential Systems CT100, ProAPP 10/20/40, Quark QC-10, etc.
