I'd like to get something to measure clockspeeds on the traces and pins of the PBX/603e/T-REX etc. in the NuBus PPC PBs. I need to determine where the processor bus and the bridged 030 I/O bus go their separate ways at the legs of the PBX bridge chip.
Is a'sillyscope the tool I need, and if so, where does one find a very inexpensive one for use up to about the 20-40 MHz range? I think it's probably time for me to start learning about the electronics end of this stuff . . .

Thanks to MacTo's suggestion over at the barracks, searching "frequency counter" provided a lot of good info, including a Circuit Cellar article on a homebaked SMT Reflow Oven Controller!
More input would be greatly appreciated.

I have an old heathkit oscilloscope. I think frequency counters are probably going to be of more use to you, as an oscilloscope, while okay for measuring frequencies, is also for looking at the waveform. Probably a little too much toy for what you want to do.
