I've just been given 2 Performa 580's with no OS, after alot of trial and error I managed to get 7.5.3 installed (HFV Explorer is a lifesaver 
And I have a Farallon EtherWave Mac/PB Adapter,
I was wondering if using this equiptment I can setup a quick Phonenet Network between the 2 macs and connect it to my main ethernet network?

any phone net dongles? if not you need some. 2 to be exact. and a phone cord to go in between. a few of the seasoned macers on here have more than they know what to do with. ask around. once you get that working, go to network, select whichever port the dongles are on, and by turning file sharing on on one of them, and sharing a volume, you should be able to see that volume in chooser on the opposite machine.
Ok, Today I got myself a shiny new Ethernet adaptor for the performa (plusg onto the logic board) Is there any way I can get MacTCP to see my DHCP server? or if I have to set the IP Manually - Hwo can I get it to use it as the defalt net connection?

It works Now, updated to System 7.5.5 still didn't work
Installed OpenTransport (as opposed to 'ol MacTCP) and it works
