I've been doing searches (Google included) for a list of WiFi networking devices (USB and PMCIA card) compatible with my Powerbook & OS 10.3.
While I've found some, I've noticed that the large majority are for PC compatibility (I know, I shouldn't be suprised.) Though PMCIA and USB are "standards" they are not necessarily universally compatible. Or are they? I need some help/advice/info.
Does anyone here know of a comprehensive listing of portable Mac WiFi hardware? A URL pointer would be a great response to this querry. Thanks in advance.
What you really want to do is to get an Airport/Airport Extreme (depending on your PB), becuase if it can't take an Airport/Extreme card, it was probably never meant to have WiFi, and so may not work with it. Another reason for going for the official version, is that USB 1/1.1 and PCMIA cant even use the full bandwidth of 802.11b, let along 802.11g

Thanks for the good URL leads, but. . .
CompUSA has an "Online Only Special" for the D-Link DWL-122 Wireless USB adapter 802.11b. It normally goes for $39.99, the have $10 discount, and a $20 mail in rebate. With 2nd day shipping and sales tax it totals about $20. I know that this isn't the fasted device, but most WiFi is 802.11b compliant and a friend bought and uses this model with his Mac's in the office, where he does graphics work and says that for most file sizes it transmit plenty fast.
If you're interested in this, hurry, I think that this special expires on 11/27/2004.
Here's one I prepared earlier:
Lots of advice and links.
Also, see the little search box at the top of the page here? It's pretty useful.
