SetTop475 Revisited

Looks like I might just have a new mod on the way! Biggrin Somebody is selling me a STB case with PSU, a LC II mobo and a HD, soon to be built into an MP3 player for my living room. I think this one might just work. Acute

Not quite right

68ks can play MP3s, just not well. Its mainly a software issue and MPEGDec is the only 68k MP3 player out there. All of the other MP3 players I've run across are PPC only.

You need alot of RAM and dedicate all of its power to playing MP3s but it can be done. For any reasonable playback tho' you need a PPC 601 for a dedicated setup and preferably a 603.

You changed the signature len

You changed the signature length limit. Now it don't fit.Yeah. PPC works better with MP3's.

I had MP3's playing perfectly on my 8100. If it weren't for the small HD and she fact that the only MP3 software that works on an 8100 didn't have a lot of features, it would be a perfect MP3 machine.

Oh well.

On hold.....

Looks like I've got it on hold again. My 6400 should work well though. Not quite sure if it's even worth it though. Also, a complaint about this new software, I'd really appreicate if there was a meter to show how much of an active member I am. It would seriously save me from having people who haven't the experience with dealing with LCs playing MP3s from telling me off (Not that that wasn't a good comment, it's just I knew that it would be tough, and I read Macworld, or at least did when that article was out.)

Bullets should cost $5000 because then there would be no innocent bystanders.
"That dude got shot!" "Damn he deserved it if the shooter was willing to pay $5000!!"
