I have had my iBook for over a year and have noticed that earlier in to the 10.3.x versions, I have been having USB and Firewire problems. Mainly, that is, with the power-out coming from the plugs. Suddenly, while having a FW External HD (2.5") the power would just drop out and the HD would just power off. I have also had a USB light (for night web sessions w/ the lights turned off) just stop, well, producing light.) however after 10.2.6, I have not had that problem. Does anyone have any clues as to what is going on. Was apple having a software/hardware linkage problem, or should I send the laptop in. (I really don't want to send it in because it has been in under warrenty about 11 times. (thank-god for ext. warrenties)) I have a Backup laptop if I do have to send it in.
Any response would be highly appreciated.
Thx. guys and gal's for providing me Tech support!!

Problems w/ USB
You should send it in. Is this a G3 or a G4 iBook? It could be a logic board problem.
Daniel
This would happen to be the infamous G3 iBook dual USB 900MHz. I have had it in for these reasons:
3 HD Failures
5 Logic Board Failures (3 for the infamous Video Chip loosening up from the HD Vibrations)
1 dead screen
1 DVD/CD-RW gone out
1 Power Adapter Failure (actually 3, the guys at CompUSA see the brick in the hand and they get out a new one and just hand it over. I am so well known)
oh...
and the dead screen was the fact that airborne Express tossed the laptop onto the porch from 15' away. (lazy so & so's) so it went back the same day. (I really hate AB Express, They lost my laptop 2x by sending it to the wrong house. Now, I offer to pay for shipping)
All this, and I am STILL and apple Fan. It maybe trying sometimes, but I still recommend their products. I can never go to the Evil Winbloze side. If I have to Go PC, I prefer Linux (Suse Pref. Or BSD w/ X11
AB Ex is absolutely horrible. They've left packages at the *end of my driveway* where they just stopped the truck, leaned out and dropped the package out the door. My wife happened to see them pull up and witness that "delivery". The porch door is only 30' or so from the street, and it was spring/summer. They've done worse, like feeding a package to my dogs...
I HATE AIRBOURNE EXPRESS! >:( The local AB Ex contractor also handles the local DHL service, so I'm dang sure I'll not be getting any DHL "deliveries" if I can help it.
