I have a Powerbook G4 15" Tibook, that has a case that's cracked in a few places, and I would love to try to make it waterproof as a modification project, but the obvious problems that would arise would be overheating, if they could be gotten around at all. I'm dying to have a waterproof, well water resistant, I guess, computer, though, and that thought was the one thing that almost got me to buy out of the Mac product line ( http://www.dolch.com/html/RuggedNote.html, or http://www.dolch.com/html/notepac.html variations of which can be found elsewhere, but all of which are similar to these models). So far the only laptop modification I've done is to swap out a dead 10 GB hard drive in the Tibook for a new 100 GB one. So links for laptop cases that would work on a Tibook would be helpful for starters, if anyone doesn't mind the helping hand.

How would you type on it?
I was thinking there would be some sort of rubber mask built into the keyboard that would be flexible enough to absorb the movement of the keys. Then there would be rubber plugs for all of the ports. The main thing I would be worried about would be how to build something like this that would have some sort of heat sink so that it could run without burning up.
I reconditioned and gave my father-in-law a Dolch LPAC 586 about 4 months ago. It is a fairly nice ruggedized lunchbox system. Certainly not one of their weatherproof systems, but a fairly solid box once I got all the missing screws replaced, and got the internal brackets reattatched. The previous owners (General Motors - Fairfax Assembly Plant) had pulled the system apart to strip the RAM and HDD. Thankfully they left the laptop style CD-ROM, and the ISA LVDS adapter.
If you want a waterproof system, I'd say Dolch would be a great bet, and so would a Panasonic Toughbook. Anybody that suplies MIL-spec systems should be a decent choice.
I want to save up my money to get a dual 2.5 GHz G5, or whatever is equivalent that I can afford by the time I have the money saved, and waterproofing my Tibook would be a sort of a mission in frittering, if I can think of a way to do it. I sort of hemmed and hawed about buying a Powerbook or a Dolch and I'm really sort of sore that Mac doesn't have any ruggedized laptops, so I want to make one, and learn how to do it. Is this:
