Apple Design Speakers II

For their size and age, I was surprised at how good these sound. Unfortunately my pair are a bit temperamental and when I touch the powered one heavily, one of the speakers (left and/or right) will cut out. My first thought is a dry solder joint but I thought I'd ask whether this is a common problem before I disassemble. The easiest way to replicate the problem is to place a hand on top of the speaker (five pounds load, say).

Mods: Any chance of a forum for Apple non-iPod/Newton peripherals: cameras, speakers, printers, PowerCD, keyboards, pointing devices etc?

TIA,

Phil

I never had that problem with either of my pairs of ADPS IIs (which, unfortunately, are lost in storage).

Sounds like a broken cable or something... on mine the powerjack is broken, but there is no new part I could use to replace it.

Solved: Wonky jack socket

One of the 3.5mm sockets is a bit wonky. Depending on the inclination of the speaker on its stand, the plug can become strained and breaks the connection. I'll fix it before any permanent damager occurs...
