Light in a B & W G3

I was wondering if it is ok to have a R/C cars headlight in the second drive bay of a blue and white G3? Could it overheat the CD drive? The light does get warm. And its 9 volt battrey (spelled wrong sorry!) it taped right below the empty modem port slot.

Instead of using the 9V batte

Instead of using the 9V battery, why not patch into the cd-rom drive's 5V rail? Your lights might run a bit dimmer, but they'll run cooler.

Or just get some ultra-bright leds.

5V rail

Could you show me a photo of the 5v rail. I'm new to hacking computers. And the light only needs 5-6 volts to run.

Fan power

Would it be ok to plug the wire's to the fan's power cable and the plug the fan back in with the LED's wires still in there?

I'd stick with what you know is 5V.

Better still, if you're unsure of your skills, go pick up a cheap light kit. It's cheap compared to a replacement motherboard if you do something wrong.

wire's
LED's
