HI,
New to the world of MACs so please be gentle
A friend of mine's iMAC has blown up - and needless to say she hasn't got a backup of her university coursework, needed by the end of the week!
Is there anyway I can take the HDD from the iMAC and put in into a PC to retrieve the data?
Any help/suggestions would be REALLY appreciated.
Thanks.

iMAC HDD in a PC?
If you know how to retrieve the HD from her iMac's case, then putting it in a PC shouldn't be a problem. However, a PC can't read a Mac HD - you might need a product like MacDrive 6: (http://www.mediafour.com/products/macdrive6/).
thanks for the swift reply - already got the HDD out of the Imac case...I'll look at the software you suggested.

Try HFV Explorer (google for it). It's the only free software that will do the trick, AFAIK.
At least one of the commercial products has a free demo/trial, but I forget which one it is.
