Help fix my PB g4

I have an original PB G4 400.
It has a broken backlight wire (the white one I think).
(it was a long story that got me to this point)

Can this wire be fixed?
I removed the LCD assembly from the rest of the laptop last week and I am trying
to figure out what the best way to fix my problem.

I am hoping not to have to buy a new LCD.

Thank You,

Jeannie

Find a new video cable bundle

Find a new video cable bundle. eBay would be a good place to start. It won't be cheap, but it won't be nearly as expensive as a new screen.

yes, repair possible

The wires are simple small gauge wire, can be soldered, crimped, whatever. I've repaired several by soldering and covering with very small shrink tubing. The repair kinda depends upon whether the broken wire ends are accessable. If not, you can still repair it, but you'll have to disassemble the display, not a job for the fainthearted.

Find a new video cable bundle.

You cannot easily replace the backlight wires, they are integral to the backlight tube, itself embedded inside the LCD, which is glued inside the display bezels.

Thank you

Thank you, Dan.
I thought it might be fixable but I wasn't sure.

I soldered and shrink wrapped the wire. My first time soldering electronics in at least 10 years but I think I did a pretty good job.

Then it was on to the original problem, replacing the inverter board.
You see, the wire broke while I was trying to remove a stripped screw while I was trying to replace the inverter board.

I just reassembled the computer with an inverter board purchased from pbfixit.com and it was making the same type of high-pitched noise that lead me to believe the inverter was going in the first place.

Could I have gotten a bad inverter board from pbfixit?
Could the problem be something else? my repair job, perhaps?

Thanks to anyone who could offer some insight.
