I think that torrents are a great way of file transfer, but the proliferation of pirated wares in the bittorrrent network isn't good for the content makers.
Aren't you concerned about security in a peer to peer network?
What kind of security? Security in itself is such an IT buzzword that asking if someone is concerned about the security of something, it means almost nothing because it's too broad.
My understanding is when you are connected to a P2P network, you open your HD to whomever you are connected to, that they could peek around and grab things you don't want them grabbing, etc.
Oh, I see what you're saying now. BitTorrent is a little different than that in the respect that you can only transfer what has a torrent file. I suppose it's possible that someone could accidently make a torrent of private files, but the risk is much less than a traditional P2P network.
I really don't know anything about BitTorrent... where is the FAQ? Is there an instruction guide?
http://www.bittorrent.com/FAQ.html should help.
