LC II to PC File Transfers

Hello, I was wondering if I could transfer files from my PC to my LC II though this cable I have. The cable appears to be a modem cable as it has the connecter to plug into the modem port at one end, and the 19 pin D shaped one at the other end. I can plug this D shaped plug into my parallel port on my PC and the other end into my Macintosh LC II. Is there any software I could use to transfer file between computers. I know that this might not be possible as I am going to be using my parallel port and not a regular serial/communications on my PC. If it helps any, my Mac is running Mac OS 7.5.3 and my PC has Windows XP Professional.

Thanks, Jaimy

ummm...

the other end is serial. So you will need to have an adapter to go from the 25-pin, to a 9-pin serial port. you could fry the port on either the lc or the pc if you plug it into the Parallel port on the pc. You can pick up and adapter on ebay easily,

and a null modem adapter...

If the cable is a standard Macintosh modem/serial cable, you will need a 25 pin to 9 pin adapter, as Coius has mentioned. In addition, you will need a null modem adapter if you want to connect your Mac directly to the PC via the serial ports.

The null modem adapter reverses the tx and rx lines so that the two computers can establish a serial connection.

By the way, it would probably be a whole heck of a lot cheaper to just buy a cheap PDS ethernet card for your LCII.

Not to mention, MUCH faster transfers. And, depending on what you might run on the LC II and the PC you can use the LC II as a very lowend mail or text-only web station. Might be good for Wikipedia, basic Googles, etc.
