i have a 12inch g4 ibook and i want to replace the top shell (it has tons of scratches and marks, and i want it to be in better condition before i modify it). i was able to find a g3 shell on ebay and i asked the seller if it will fit and he said yes, but i have a feeling he's just saying yes so i'll buy it. anyhow, any idea if this will fit my ibook? it's the same size, the only diffrence is it was built for a g3, and i have a g4. i appreciate your help...

For the top shell, the g3 and g4 iBook use the same plastics. The hinge/brace assembly, the front display bezel (only difference is iBook vs. iBook G4 markings), emi shield, and the rear display housing (apple's name for the top shell) are common parts from the g3 to g4 iBook. The late model iBook G3's utilized the opaque plastics as opposed to the painted transparents on the early dual usb's. Though, the transparent plasitcs will fit. I spend all day working on iBooks and PowerBooks at work.
