At my middle school, when something goes wrong the other students smack the side of the computer.Well aperantly one was smacked too hard. When a sudden movement happens (IE. Desk moving or anotherr smacking) thee bottom half of the screen goes fuzzy and jagged. But when you lightly tap it, it is fine for about 5 minutes and it happpens all over again.

Are these the new LCD-style, or the old CRT-style iMacs?
If it's the older style, it sounds like the guns are unable to stay in alignment. That's the sad part about technology in schools - it's always abused.
My solution to this has always been to take the computers away from the children and replace them with boxes of rocks with pictures of computers plastered all over them. The average kid will have just as much fun beating up a box of rocks as they will an expensive Mac.
Cheers,
The Czar
It is the First Gen Slot-load Blueberry iMac. Sadily it already has gone through 2 displays. Should I replace iit with a cardboard cut-out of a iMac and let them beat the $#!t out of the sucker. Or I could make the case metal and hook-up a car battery so when they touch it, they become a french fry! MMMmmmmm, fryed children.
I am the onsite tech at a school district participating in the one to one initiative. You would be horrified to see the things that kids do to these iBooks. I've seemingly seen it all. From little things like "Oops, I dropped it on the floor" to "Oh my god, it just got hit by an airbag". Submersion seems to be a common theme with these during the winter months (falls in a ditch filled with melting snow and road salt - makes a nice pool of corrosive fluid). If you want to see one of the more amusing units that have crossed my desk at work, check out my photo page at http://homepage.mac.com/iantm/PhotoAlbum12.html . Fun Fun Fun!

That poor iBook never saw it coming. Unless it was on and facing the airbag. That kid's excuse was "My dog ate my iBook"
Sadly, the iBook was in use at the time of the wreck. Fortunately, the student was one of those few who renew my faith in mankind by not lying to me. I've seen dog chewed iBooks (always kind of amusing). It's a fun job, but somebody's gotta do it
