I have just purchased a Powerbook Duo 270c and original Duo Dock off ebay. What I want to do is use the Powerbook in the dock with the dock hood off and use the Powerbook screen. The problem is that the screen is disabled when in the dock. Can anyone shed some light on how I could activate the screen whilst in the dock?

You need to disble the ROM in the Dock. This is easy on the Dock II as the ROM is socketed. Just carefully remove it from the socket. On the older Docks, you'll need to snip a pin. Adding a switch or jumper to this pin will allow you to switch between ROM and ROMless. Go here and search for "duo dock rom"
