G3 AIO-screen goes blank, other flaky behavior

I've got a G3 all in one that's been acting flaky. I have successfully installed 10.2.8 on a new 80GB drive (which has <8gb partitions on it). What's happening now is when I try to repair permissions, the screen goes blank (power remains on). Totally blank, not gray or blue.

Other problems include the do not enter (what do you call this) sign when starting up, or question mark.

I've tried zapping pram. Where's the CUDA switch--I can't find it? Any other troubleshooting suggestions would be appreciated.

This problem spunds familiar

Beige G3s (AIO included) seem to have screen issues with 10.2.8. Apple has a knowledgebase article about the problem whose number eludes me at the moment, but the gist is that an ATI kext file needs to be removed.

This occured with my AIO too, but after removing the file it's been on 24/7 for months as my iTunes server at work.

If there were any other issues that you had, it's hard to tell since the post was cut off.

xpostfacto

I've had some luck with improving AIO's reliabilty by using xpostfacto...it seems to have a better driver manager for older hardware. I know 10.2.8 is supported so not really neccessary, but I think that it would help you. Actually 10.3 ran SO much faster on my beige w\xpostfacto than 10.2 did, so that might be a good idea anyways. Just make sure to have more than 512 megs of ram and you'll fly.
