After spending several days drooling over this image:
I've pulled out my old Apple II+ logic boards and decided to give it a whirl.
The first step was to repopulate the boards with the RAM and IC's that I had scavenged from them over the years. Turns out I'm short two 16kilobit DRAM chips and one 74LS151. I also need to replace a damaged 74LS257 (broken pin).
I'm pretty sure that I have some decent standoff's laying around that I can use to keep the boards uniform. I'll have to dig around and see if I can find them. If not, I'll have to buy some. I want to have at least 2.5" inches of airflow between the boards.
What I'd really like to do, is get a big honking server case to put these babies in. After all, no one really needs to know that this "supercomputer" is nothing but a bunch of Apple II+ boards networked together.
I'm really liking this idea. I salute you, Mr. Mahon.

You're liking it too, aren't you, DDTM? My sixth sense is detecting salivation emanating from your general vicinity. Coolness factor one, Captain. Proceed to launch Operation Apple Crate II+.
