Standoffs?

Wow. This one might make me sound a little green...

In all the time I've been doing hardware hacks, I've never needed standoffs for anything before. Now I'm putting a DA board in a 9600, and I need standoffs! But I have no idea where to buy them. The local Rat Shack is useless, of course. Any ideas?

Peace,
Drew

go buy a cheap pc case

they come with them, in fact more than you would need, so you could save the case for a later project. Any $19.99 wonder will do the job

I recommend PI Manuf. for all-sorts-of-stuff-like-this.

or...

...depending on what the standoff must look like (functionally, I mean), you could always go browsing through the hardware section at your local DIY store. I often find good things to improvise with. You could even try an arts/crafts store and find some tubular beeds that would possible foot the bill although you would need zip ties or a bolts vice just snapping it together. While it is not an exact science (and I am not saying use any crap you find) you may find an interesting and creative way to standoff your hardware without having to pay extra for a specific part (unless there is no other way or you are doing a true restoration).
