Most cards that don't require flashing for Mac compatibility are USB and Firewire cards, along with some network cards.
So far I've used:
- Generic Opti-chipset based USB 1.1 cards,
- Generic Realtek 8039 10/100 network cards,
- Creative and Orchid Voodoo/Voodoo2 3D acceleration cards,
- Syba Ali-chipset combo USB 2/Firewire cards (USB2 works great, haven't tried Firewire yet)
After flashing for Mac compatibility, I've used the following:
- Voodoo3 2D/3D video card,
- Adaptec 2940 UW SCSI card (found flashed with PowerDomain firmware)
For your SCSI card, it will most likely need to have the firmware updated for use with the Mac. Beware though, some of the OEM Adaptec cards are not supported for firmware udpates.
I've used a PC SBLive (not the mac SBLive) with a beige G3 and a dual G4 powermac.
It might not be the best for audio but it has low latency hardware soundfont midi
which is important if your a musician and not just listening to midi files.
It only works with OS9 though.
And the PC ATI Video cards can work with a bit of rom flashing.
They work "If" they have large emough Flash rom... I believe 512kb.. or you just replace the Flash Rom with a larger one...
