First, use an internally mounted Asante Micro SCSI/enet adapter to provide the ethernet port, then attach that to an internally mounted D-Link DWL-G739AP Pocket Router/AccessPoint (PCB dim. 73mm long x 50mm wide x 8mm thick), in client mode! Finally, there's a wifi client device small enough (maybe) to fit inside a Duo!!
I've still got to see if the AP will fit into the modem-space. I've already determined the enet adapter will fit above a slim (ATA) HD. I wonder how much 5v juice this concoction will suck . . .
Heck, if nothing else, this AP is so tiny it could hang on the outside, though that's not as elegant as a integral solution.

Is that the smallest one you could find? Because my memory and a quick bit of Googling tells me there are others, made by Siemens, Belkin, Netgear, Linksys and others. The driverless ones are often marketed to gamers to connect their Playstation or XBox to an AP.
Hey I'm not saying you're wrong, that's cetainly a small device. Just have some vague thought that there's a smaller one out there - I could be thinking of a USB one though.
And rather than "hanging on the outside", the rear of the screen bezel might be a good mounting point.
Err, I dunno 'bout other similar small client-mode APs, 'cause this is the only one of this sort of thing I've had. I've not been paying attention lately I guess.
I'm wondering if this will even work as a portable, the AP point is a tad thirsty. Where inside a Duo can I source a solid 1 amp at 5v??? Well, at least that's what the PS supplies . . . I suppose I need to measure the actual power consumption. Reckon I'll need some sort of amp meter . . .
Edit: Will the Apple AirPort Express take power from the USB port (rather than from the AC plug?) It's the only other small client device of which I'm so far aware.
Interesting, I just found this APxpr takeapart. I wonder . . .
A) what voltage(s) its PS supplies
if it would work without the audio daughtercard attached?
