iBook g3 (clamshell) Screen removal/disassembly

I just bought a tangerine ibook 300, and it has some sort of black residue underneath the plastic around the edge of the screen (looks like you could wipe it right off). I am new to these ibooks and was wondering how to go about removing and disassembleing the screen to maybe rid myself of the marks; anyone done this before? thx
