Hello All,
just listed a complete working gs system on ebay for $12 no reserve. Seems like folks in these parts would want to know, but this is shameless self promotion anyways! End November 12 2005

That looks like an Atari brand joystick that you are selling with the IIgs. It won't work on your IIgs, even though it has a similar 9 pin connector (is that a gender changer you plugged into the GS?). The apple II uses an analog type joystick, and the atari joystick is a digital type stick (8 direction, 1 button).
If you had a Commodore, that joystick would work on it just fine.
It sure looks like an Atari doesn't it? It isn't one (at least atari brand) that I can see. It seems to be a sort of generic brand. It was attached when I got it, but I never had an opportunity to try, so it sounds like you could be right. Though, the existence of an atari knock-off that worked on a gs wouldn't suprise me either. Not sure if that's a gender change, I need to get it from its box to check. But if it is, that would be a good clue that perhaps someone stuck it on thinking it was supposed to work.
good sleuthing.
