Escaping from "windows"

Hi for a number of years I have been staring into cyber-space through "windows", I have just bought as seen un-tried a PB1400cs/133 as an intro to the "mac alternative". Hum now for the problem, as a MAC vigin, imagine my suprise when I power it up and all I get is a picture of a cute little floppy disc with a Question mark flashing on it. HELP please ?? what is it asking me to do? I so want to leave windows behind, but on a limited budget it is a little frustrating, do I need to install an operating system, and if so which one and where do I get one from ??
Cheers Rowly

no operating system

that means there is no operating system installed on your mac. quite the same as the message "no boot volume found" on a windows box...

install the operating system from the (hopefully?) enclosed cd's.

Hello, another member here is selling external CD drives on the For Sale Forum.
