I have a iBook G3 600MHz. Is there anywhere that i can replace my optical drive cheaply? I would also like to change from a CD ROM to a combo drive if possible. I will be visiting the states in mid- December and would like to get it done there. Mac charges around US$400 just to replace the optical drive,I don't want to pay that amount of money. As you can probably tell, I don't have much experience messing about with the hardware,so please tell me things simply. Thanks

Okay,I can do that. But I am not savy into trying to replace it myself. Do you know a shop that can assist me in that? Cheers!
cheak and see if macresq will do it for you
PowerBook Fixit.com
That page should take you to a catalog where you can get a repair manul for free. It is a web based manual, so unless you want to keep another computer on the site, i suggest printing it out.
