im going to turn my se/30 into a server, but since scsi drives are super expensive, is it possible to use one of the scsi ide apapters, so i could use a regular old ide hard drive with my se 30?
thanks!

hmmmm....havent heard of anyone doing this with an se/30 but then again it seem logical enought to work doesnt it?
I haven't done it myself with an SE/30, but it should work just fine.

does it have to be a external drive, or can i make it the internal one?
eric
It all depends on what you want, a bridged ATA-SCSI drive is a SCSI drive to the host system. Most bridges are compact enough to be used internally, but for server use you might want to use an external anyway, both for convenient access to the drive and for the better cooling and power supply options available in an external housing.
Still, modern ATA drives use only a fraction of the power (and therefore give off a fraction of the heat) of the original drives shipped in SE/30-era Macs. I'd say your choices are directed by cost, convenience and esthetics, in whatever order is important to you.
