Apple II

For Wizard's Crown Fans -

I recently completed one of my Apple II bucket list items and created a patch for Wizard's Crown which modifies the movement keys to align better with the numeric keypad.

The original keys were awkward to use, and chosen at a time when numeric keypads were not prevalent (1985). There were alternative key sequences that appear to have been  available, but I am pretty sure they were not chosen to save memory. The patch includes a detailed write up of my observations.

The patch is available on archive.org. The direct link is:

Strange 80 column / 64k Memory Expansion for IIe

HiI recently got a Apple IIe with a strange 80 column & memory expansion card. At least I assume it's such a card. The only Information I see on the PCB is "Copyright 1988 MKV". No further Information on the back.

Interestingly all the chips on the board where manufactured in 1983 (according to production code labled on them).Any idea who was the manufacturer or available documentation for the board? - would be greatly appreciated.

//c Disk (A2M4050) LED

I have one of these and noticed that the LED was not working.  Taking it apart there was no LED in the bezel.  I think this may have had a //c internal drive transplanted into this case.

I tried adding an LED as well as the appropriate cable and header (with the correct pinout after watching a teardown video) and it doesn't light up.

I'm using off the shelf LEDs, do these units use special ones?   Is there any firmware in these that might not be utilizing the LED?  Was surprised it didn't just work.   :(

Apple II+ keybaord to USB

Happy New Year all:

Got a project on the horizon and I can't seem to hit the right search terms.

I have an Apple II+ I plan to empty of all parts (I'll post here for any interested party once the project is done).

The goal is to put an Apple II+ Raspberry Pi emulator in the case.  I want to use the original keyboard with the RasPi.

What is driving me nuts is I could swear I came across a website where someone did just this.  I know there are posts and videos of people doing this to Commodore 64s.

Help me diagnose an Apple IIc Disk Drive issue

Hi, second time writing in the forum.

I have an issue with an Apple IIc that suddenly stopped communicating with the internal Disk Drive, no sound at all, no spin, no read/write. The computer boots and beeps and shows "Apple //c" and "Check Disk Drive" message. Got to add that the drive used to make sound, sping and read/write intermittently.

Apple Monitor Capacitors

Hey all. Recently I purchased an Apple Color Monitor (model A2M6020), unfortunately after receiving it I noticed that the screen was acting funky. After talking to a friend I learned that the capacitors need to be replaced. Was wondering if anybody knew offhand what type of capacitors it uses and how many.

Apple ll Prototype?

Hello everyone! So, I have been spending the last few months trying to research as MUCH as I could about a certain Apple ll Prototype.

So, here's what I know. This Prototype had to have been made after the Apple-1 but created before the Apple ll Rev. 0 board was finallized. I found out that this prototype existed because there are two individual Youtube videos showcasing it. I have the links for those videos.

Sorry - I have to comment on these [Bell & Howell Apple wrenches]

I apologize in advance and I don't usually comment on these type of eBay things because it is really not any of my business,  but folks have been posting these incorrectly for several years now and bother me each time I go to search if any B&H apples are for sale.  :-)

Apple IIe Canadian Version?

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone. Only 40 years after I saw one in person I finally got myself and Apple IIe, I had pretty much all the Commodore machines but always wanted a Apple. Anyway, the one I picked up is a IIe with the keyboard layout switch for the English/Canadian French. I don't believe it to be a euro model as the Video Rom is 24pin not 28. I'm pretty sure it is enhance with 65C02A, 341-304-A,  342-0303-A and 342-0292-A (has the 65C02 sticker). Does anyone have any history info on this version?
