SilenType no LF

When testing my SilenType, it has no line feed. Before I dig into this, if the motor is dead, is that part available at all?

Mine is an early unit, around serial 4000. I am going to try it with a second interface card before testing the motor in any other way. The old Apple Service docs are pretty vague on this topic, but I know that the rollers work, so it must be the motor, the internal controller interfsce to the motor, or the main controller card--this last one happens to be on the Apple Service list of possible defects for no LF, so don't laugh.

Thoughts on wDrive versus Floppy Emu?

I have an Apple IIGS with only a 3.5" drive and a BOOTI card. Looking for a solution for primarily 5.25" disk images, but also 3.5" disk images.  What are people's thoughts on both units? Some Pros/Cons I've come across:

Echo II Clone

Hi y'all -

Back when I was a kid my first computer was an Apple II+ and I had an Echo II speech card for it. Somewhere along the way I picked up a IIe and traded away the II+. Thought I had kept the Echo II but when I dug the IIe out of my parents garage on a recent visit just before the pandemic hit I could not find it so seems not.

Being a bit of a hardware hacker, and I been lurking here a long time so I know there are plenty of y'all who are way more knowledgable than I, I got it in my head I should try and make my own Echo II clone.

Anyone ever create Apple Fortran diskettes from images?

I have been working with Apple Fortran on the Virtual II emulator using Apple Fortran disk images from ftp.apple.asimov, FORT1.DSK and FORT2.NIB. On Vitrual II I can edit source files and complile them with no problems. I wanted to do the same on my actual Apple II Plus and tried to make actual FORT1 and FORT2 diskettes using my FloppyEmu.

Boot Message Text

Does anybody know off hand where the boot message text lives.  That is where is the APPLE ][ or Apple //e or ACE 1000 vx.x message text stored.   I'm thinking about getting a ROM-X and mulling over some ideas. As I recall it was clear text ASCII in the ][ Plus but was mildly encrypted in the //e so copyright infringement was easier to detect after the Franklin court ruling. I wonder if the Laser 128 was the same or if it moved in the "clean room" ROM?

II+ no boot condition

Hi guys.

I've stumped myself with this II+ (clone)

It was working fin until today when it failed to start.  The screen shows some bands of lo-res graphic horizontal bars.  No beep.

I've removed all the cards and the top 32K of RAM, so it is sitting with only the lower 16K of RAM.

I am getting a clock signal, the 14 MHz, 7MHz, 3 MHz and 1MHz are all there.

All address states at the CPU show logic state high, so that's good.

Apple IIe Platinum seems dead - help!

I was recently "gifted" an Apple IIe Platinum -- with a dead power supply, and every single slot empty.

The power supply had significant damage to it (likely from whoever owned it previously replacing the fuse on the AC side with a piece of 14-gauge wire) and had the 6-pin motherboard power plug clipped off.

Apple 2 color monitor pcb

I'm trying to resurect my Apple 2 color monitor, the pcb is pretty close to beyond repair without a mess of bodge wires as some of the traces have disintagrated and the rest isn't much better. Does anyone know where I might get a reproduction pcb or a file I can send to a pcb maker and have them make a new one?

Apple IIe plug and socket partnumber

Hi, the connection of the plug and socket from the power supply (6 pins) to the mainboard (J14) of my Apple IIe European version is unreliable. I am looking for the part-number or type of this connector and socket so I can order and replace them.

Does someone know this information or where I can find a replacement for this?
