Applewin configuration for use with Merlin assembler

I'm trying to re-learn 6502 assembly by using some YouTube videos with Applewin and the Merlin assembler. I'm having issues with objects and object files. For example, I type in the exact source code as seen on the YouTube video, I use the same Merlin commands as well, the program completes the assembler process wihtout errors and it matches the exacts output in the video, but I am unable to get Applewin to save the object file after I save the source file.

IIc Diagnostic Disk 077-8125-A and Loopback Cable

I found the Apple //c diagnostic disk image a while back.  I tried running it on my //c, but never got much out of it.  Apparently it is meant to be used in conjunction with some service manual and a loopback cable.  But I've never identified which manual it is.  If anyone knows for which manual and where to find a copy, I'd be interested.  But I did manage to acquire an offical Apple loopback cable for the //c, part number 077-8148.  Now I can actually go through the diagnostic disk successfully.  As I can't find any documentation on this, i figure i would document it here if anyone is int

When I boot this PAL Apple IIe, I get a scrambled GR mode screen like this:

Apple /// Serial card weirdness

What can you guys tell me about these Apple /// 820-0071-D (670-0129) Serial Cards? I have 3 of them and they puzzle me, especially with that giant pushbutton. I cant find any documentation about them. Are they identical to the RS-232 port on the main board but a secondary device? Need info please!

Keyboard Controller failure! Where do I get one?!

So I was fixing my last broken Apple /// System and after the Ram board was ironed out I realized the Keyboard was acting flakey. Turns out the Keyboard Controller 341-0035 at location H-14 was faulty. I swapped in a working chip from another Apple /// and it tested fine so I know the IC is dead. Here is the thing though, the Chip in the socket that is faulty (70% of the keys pressed come out wrong) is a KR3600-085 and is not labeled 341-0035 like my working chip. Isnt the KR3600 the same controller in the Apple II plus?

Apple 5.25 Floppy Drive Test Image/Disk

I acquired a floppy called "Apple 5.25 Drive Test Reference Disk" (part number 077-0325) and it says the disk is not copyable.  So I assumed it was a specially created/formatted disk like the Datalife Analyzer disk/program for checking alignments.  But it turns out I was only half right.  It is a specially formatted floppy to test alignment.  But it has no software on it and requires a separate program disk named "Apple 5.25 Drive Test 1.0" (part number 077-0324).  A quick Google search and a scan of Asimov don't seem to yield any images for the program disk.  Does anyone by chance know if

Apple //e + Prodos 8 = Headache

I purchased a Uthernet card in hope of browsing the interweb on my unenhanced //e. Using my old ipod I loaded Contiki 2.7 onto 5.25 disks using the cassesste tape port. Booting up the disk Prodos 8 tries to load and complains that it requires an enhanced Apple //e or better to run.

Any other options I can try? Seems that Contiki bundles prodos 8 with their sofware?

Cheers!

Gary
