Tony Diaz colllection preservation effort

Please consider making a donation of any size to the effort. Tony’s collection must be preserved.

This effort is where the rubber meets the road in terms of preservation.https://gofund.me/6bec99c7

I have no idea what that is but sounds intriguing, what is the collection current status?

One of the worst things is a number of the items being picked through by people belong to someone else and were just on loan to Tony.  Some of those items are one-of-a kind or otherwise pretty much not replaceable.  And the way it stands right now those people will probably never get their stuff back.

That would be unfortunate for those folks if that is the case. Hopefully if/when those persons/items are identified, the KFest folks see what they can do. I have a fair amount of faith that Kansasfest as a 501(c)(3) will do what they can to make things right.

It looks like there is some

It looks like there is some semblace of orderly collection that was overwhelmed later on by piling on and on.

From those pictures you can probably infer that the reason Tony never returned anything to anyone in the later stages of his life was that he was a raging compulsive hoarder.

Hoarding is mental illness

Hoarding is mental illness according to Dr. Oz.

While collecting things of actual value is considered ok, going to extremes like that is kinda crazy, worse of all if you unexpectedly get a visit from the grim reaper someone else has to clean up the mess.

Is any of this stuff going on eBay?

Sad to see how that 68KMLA

Sad to see how that 68KMLA thread ended up :(

Yes, things left behind in passing are usually a burden to the family regardless of value. Life is too short as it is. It is important to recognize that line of collecting VS hoarding in ones own life.

At the very least, IMHO, KFEST being in touch with the estate is less likely to end in a total mess than some "group buy" or something nonsensical. I hope (like I said before) the KFEST folks as a non profit try to archive info about and return anything that can be concretely traced back to an owner if it was on loan.

I'm italian I don't totally get Your question, the parts and machines the guy too apart and bought are in my opinion of high value, the parts left behind I don't know but I doubt the guy had the chance to look everywhere, there could be more.

Unfortunately it's sounding not uncommon he had a big heart and always willing to help other. Unfortunately that didn't pan out. I think the other thread even discusses some of the special opporunities and you know those folks have eyes for the rare stuff. Hopefully thoes folks will be able to reunite some folks with their stuff. From what I understand the family is not willing to talk to those folks even if they have clear proof of ownership.
