Need help with iTunes and new CD-Rom Drive

Bear with me here as I'm not the most computer literate person. Here's what I need help with:

I just bought an internal 52X speed CD-Rom drive to speed up the transfer rate from my CD's to iTunes. I think my old CD-Rom Drive was 8X speed (not sure). I was able to connect the new drive to the computer. However, when I open up iTunes and put an audio CD in the drive for iTunes to read, it doesn't even recognize the CD. I tried going to the "File" tab and trying to import that way but it doesn't work either. The computer is reading the new drive so I know that isn't the problem.

So I put the old drive back in and iTunes has no problem recognizing when I put an audio CD. So my question is....how do I get iTunes to recognize that I put in an audio CD that I want it to import?

Any help is appreciated!!!

First things first: Double po

First things first: Double posting is a no-no around these parts. Smile

Now: Not every CD drive is "iTunes, Disc Copy, and Mac-bootable" compatible. The Mac will use nearly any drive as a simple CD-ROM, but it likes only certain makes & models to do any of the "good" stuff. What make/model is the CD-ROM, and what Mac? Once we know those, it's a trip to www.xlr8yourmac.com to find a patch for the CD driver.

It's actually a PC...

Sorry. I don't own a Mac. I should have been more clear that it's a PC. The drive model is a Dynex DX-CDR100.

Settings

I just installed one of these on my friends PC. The PC would not recognise it. I had to change the setting from SLA to CS (near where you plug in the audio cable in order for the PC to recognise it. It apparently comes preset as a Slave device.

Actually I had the same probl

Actually I had a similar problem with an Utmost 52x CD Burner. iTunes would see and use the drive, but it was not fully compatible. It caused problems with Win XP too, and I had to uninstall iTunes beacuse windows wouln't boot properly.
