Depends on the laptop. iBooks

Depends on the laptop. iBooks, titanium PowerBook G4s, and pretty much all of the G3 laptops have pop-off keyboards. Just remove the keyboard, disconnect the ribbon cables, and install the new one. For other models, a technician may be the best idea.

why not just...

why not find someone who knows a thing or two about servicing laptops. Even if it's not a mac laptop where the kbd just lifts out, it can still be replaced by someone other than a "trained tech".
