Hello again.Im Pedro from Spain. I need you advice. Im gonna put a slot in cd in my takky.Opened, I see there are a problem,The scsi chain have two parts: 40 way to the scsi for the ancient ssi 3,5" hd and 10 way (next 40way) I think to a Apple tv card?. In wich case two questions. Its possible to find an adapter for scsi 40 way to 50way double male? I would like put into a 2,5"scsi hd and a slot in scsi cd. BUt I dont know if this adapter exists. Please tell me that, here or better at pedro.royo@vodafone.es or pedro.royo@able.es ( If you have got one I buy it) .

Here's a diagram...

Hi, Pedro;

Maybe I'm reading your post wrong, but it sounds like you're describing something other than the scsi cable for the '40 way'.

If you look at the Frogeye diagram of the 630 connector HERE, the harness should have only one actual scsi connector and one IDE connector.

Options you could consider:

1) Replace the scsi cable. Remove it from the 630 harness completely and put in a longer cable with two connectors: one for the hard drive, one for the CD.

2) Get an IDE hard drive or CD-ROM drive and use the existing IDE cable for that (or replace with a longer cable), and the SCSI cable for the other drive.

As long as you work slowly, it's fairly easy to replace the cable on the harness. I lined the cable up with the pins on the harness, and pressed them in with the end-grain of a scrap piece of pine.

For the 2.5" drive: There are 2.5" to 3.5" SCSI adapters available, though they seem more readily available for IDE drives. Here's an example.

Thaks euun ( so fast!! ), but I have a doubt...

Thank you very much for your fast answer. The scsi cable that you said, 50 way with two conectors for the hd and cdI have it.But my doubt is if I could open the harness, because it contains two cables at this time : 40way scsi to old hd and a 10 way cable to a tv card I think. If I open the harness and put the 50way cable all works fine?? The scsi points join? Please if you give me your mail I send the photos which explain this situation, because Its evident that i mnot very experienced in that issues Wink

Very appreciated your interest
Pedro.

I really doubt that the 40-way cable is SCSI. Are you sure that the connector is not from a 580, which, I THINK, dropped internal SCSI for IDE only? In all my modifications, I've just replaced the standard 50-way SCSI cable with another longer or double-headed one.

580 had SCSI

The three LC580s I took apart all had SCSI CD-ROMs and ide hard drives.
The SCSI cable should be there unless it was removes after.

Here it is...

I think this photo shows the location of where the scsi cable should be.

I had trouble comparing the Frogeye diagram to the photo - probably lack of sleep - but it looks like there is no scsi cable on this harness. Possibly removed be a previous owner?

Wayne, Stuart...could you take a look and confirm?

Googling for 655-0351 says it

Googling for 655-0351 says it's the Apple part number of an IDE drive.

Google is your friend. Wink

The SCSI bus only connects to

The SCSI bus only connects to one side of the logic board connector - see the Takky wiring diagram linked to above.
