Apple I schematics/ROM

Does anyone have official schematics for the real Apple I and a rom file?

Is the Apple I Replica a closed source project? The code to the AVRs is not available?

I'm working on an Apple IIe and Macintosh Plus replicas. I have something called the WOZ Wonderbook. All of my major resources are for the Macintosh. I've just started into the IIe.

If you would like a copy of the WOZ wonder book, send me an e-mail, grant at stockly dotcom. I will put it online if anyone is interested.

The WOZ wonderbook is dated Sept 20 1977 to Nov 22 1977. The PDF version is 10MB and 213 pages long. I guess it used to be called the Red Book.

I also have several other 300MB+ scanned documents on the Apple II. Lots of notes and scans. Apple manuals, something called "CALL-Apple" news letter, etc. Most of the documents I might be able to put online during the day. They are not big.

But I'm most interested in obtaining the origional Apple I ROM and schematics.

check applefritter site

Under apple 1 owners club select documentation and you will find the original apple 1 owners manual. In that manual you will find schematics of the original apple 1 and the monitor source code listing.

Knowbody has the wonderbook online yet? I thought it was available already? No the wonderbook is not the Red Book. The Red Book was the first Apple II reference manual, the wonderbook is a collection of Woz's tech notes over the years.

The replica video source and ps/2 source is in the works to be open source under the gnu public license. Mostly just working on some detail and cleaning things up a bit.

Hope this helps,

Vince

ROM

The disassembled ROM is also in the owners' manual. I'm not sure if it's been posted online as a binary?

I was hoping to find some App

I was hoping to find some Apple schematics, like scanned microfiche slides. Smile But those schematics should be good enough

The wonderbook is available under the creative commons liscense, but I received the scans from David Craig. There is close to 4.5GB of files in there. I think the copy is on DigiBarn.

I just looked where I got confused, the first page states that the wonderbook was the soruce for the Red Book. Opps... It was late. Wink

I like what you guys have done, however it does take a little of the "wonder" out of it. Its a neat microcontroller trainer, but those discreat circuits woz came up with in the 70s were pretty cool. I think using as much of the schematic as possible and documenting how it works will be a great resource to students. Thats what I'm focusing on with the Mac128k project. I've been lucky enough to find some people who wrote replacement PAL chips for them, even one guy who made his 512k faster than a Classic by changing the video refresh timing. I'd love to share some of the documents that I've collected, but I'm having a hard time figuring it out. David Craig gave me close to 15GB of scanned documents, and I've got some more I've hunted down. Sad

If anyone has an origional ROM dump from their Apple I I'd love to get a copy of it.

Are any of you interested in a Mac128k kit? I haven't found too many people who thought it was worth my time. Wink

Wow your Mac Plus replica pro

Wow your Mac Plus replica project sounds really neat. Be sure to keep us up to date.

I had a similar idea a while back that uses a USB port for the console connection. Basically you would plug it into the USB port on your PC or Mac. It would then use the PC for the video display, keyboard and mouse. You could also use it to emulate the disks using disk images loaded on the PC.

Unfortunately I just don't have the time to pursue such a project right now.

A USB enabled macintosh or Ap

A USB enabled macintosh or Apple I? The hardware behind such a device is somewhat simple. Cypress's EZ-USB FX2 microcontroller with a FIFO would have you capturing the raw video realtime. Writing the software is the hard part.

Is there a site setup somewhere with a collection of Apple I software?

Do Apple Is ever come up on ebay?
