I have an Imac Dv 400 that I am trying to get going, It starts very nicely with a startup "diong" harddisk starts to rotate, dvd starts to rotate, high voltage to crt sounds, nothing on the screen... then it just shuts down. The green lamp in the start button is green but you need to remove the AC cable and put it back again to restart it.
I´ve tried to boot from the install 9.2 disc but doesn´t help.( the disc is stucked in there)
I disconnect the DVD player it does not shut down but still no light on screen.
I remove the memory cards, "plongs" telling "no memory" does not shut down but black screen.
I suppose it is missing the proper Firmware, but how do I get it in there?
The description of your problem has been posted a number of times here.
It's likely the flyback transformer is shot. The CRT iMac analogue boards were built with poor quality control.
Ok! Thanks, where is the Flyback transformer located?
...I mean I am not by the computer right now..

Fair warned be thee, says I: this procedure involves potential exposure to high voltages.
ok, thanks.
...one thought.. why does it not shut down when removing f.i. the dvd-player. You can actually hear the high voltage start to the crt..
