Ok, I've thrown in the towel

When it comes to trading on this site. I've been burned TWICE now and that's enough. I thought the first time was bad, but I guess I didn't learn from that one. doug-doug the mighty is an excellent trader as well as sourapple and I've never had any bad deals with them, nor have they ceased to contact me after I've sent the money. They've always kept me up to speed. I hate to bring down a sites rep but imacg3 has been posted at the bad traders thread at resellerratings.

However, if the damned thing finally shows up out of the blue or I find out what the deal is, I'll remove the post and all will be somewhat better. You guy should definately use Heatware or something and even put a link to your references in your signatures, but even that can be faked. I guess you live and learn...

While I appreciate your frustration, I don't really appreciate a comment you made in your post.

"My word of advice is this, don't trade with anyone from this board except for "doug-dough the mighty" and "sourapple". Those are the only 2 good traders on that board, but the rest are probably troll slime who deserve not to trade with anyone else online."

This really isn't cool. I'm all for calling out people that have screwed you over, but to throw the rest of us under the bus like that is really uncalled for.

Thank you for changing that.

Thank you for changing that. However, I still take issue with it. If you were trying to say that you have dealt with those two 'fritter critters and have had good dealings with them, but that you can't vouch for those you have not traded with...fine. That is common sense. However, you go out of your way to tell people not to do business with *any* of us except the two folks you mentioned.

As I said, I appreciate your situation. I'm sure many of us have had bad dealings online before and we can empathize. I just don't think that making Applefritter look bad is the best way to go. A website, by the way, that you linked to. If you really wanted people to avoid us, why advertise the site?

Not a problem. I don't want to trash a sites reputation, as I find lots of info on the 'fritter for various mac quesitons and what knot, but as far as trading goes I've lost my trust. Sometimes one (or in my case two) bad person can ruin part of it for everyone. If he would've lost his internet connection or something and was unable to post or send a reply I'd understand, but I've been watching the threads rather closely. He has been posting, yet he's unable to send a private message telling me what's going on? With Steve-o (steve landon) he would at least cuss me out on AIM or make up more excuses...

Okay, I felt bad when I saw y

Okay, I felt bad when I saw your earlier post that you hadn't received the iMac. I had imacg3 back out of a sale at the last minute, and subsequently warned a few others in PMs that they might want to be careful.
I didn't in your case, because I figured it had been long enough, and he didn't actually rip me off, he just backed out just as he was promising to ship and provide tracking numbers (it was for that Thinkpad he tried to sell or trade about a dozen times here).

So for what it's worth, sorry for not giving you a warning, but I wasn't sure if imacg3 would actually intentionally scam anyone. Heck, maybe he still hasn't.

I've had good dealings with a number of people here, of course including the Gentleman Doug-Doug-the-Mighty, as well as Pyromaniac and a few others who no longer seem to post here.

When we were discussing ratings and feedback for sales in another thread here a while back, and without the regulation and high-maintenance moderation that you get with something like ebay, it's buyer beware. No slight on Applefritter or its users, that's just the way of the world.

The Fritter site's reputation is not at risk, and should not be considered at risk. There are disclaimers for people who don't think and/or take risks they shouldn't.

Applefritter provides the for sale/trade forums for us, for our benefit and everyone should be already aware of the potential risks. Don't let the few losers ruin what we have by bitching about anything but specific transactions. It will become a hassle for Tom and have to be cancelled as a lot of sites eventually do.

It takes 2 to get screwed and the buyer has to accept some responsibility in the transaction. Be trusting but be smart also.

I NEVER send any money to anyone I don't know without getting a home phone number and calling them if I don't see plenty of evidence they have a good history of trading there. If the seller won't give you a home number forget it ! If they have nothing to hide they will give the number if you ask politely and give yours as well.

And I NEVER send any more $$ than I can afford to loose.

Thanks eeun, I wish you would've given me the heads up prior to, but thats ok. I was a bit "wound up" when I made the initial posts but I've mellowed out some. You wouldn't happen to have his email address handy would you?

$35 isnt more than I can afford, but it still irks me that this would happen. Sometimes I can be a bit trusting of people, maybe even too much, but next time (if there is, Ive got my eye on a G3 here), I'll be darned sure to ask around, see if anyone has dealt with the individual in question.

In your Resellerratings post

In your Resellerratings post you state:

"He received the money order but never sent the item although he claimed he did. This has been over a month without any form of reply from him at all. I can't seem to find his email address, so I couldn't contact him via that. His phone number turns up unlisted at switchboard so I'm stuck there."

How exactly have you been corresponding with imacg3? It appears that in your last communication with him, he says he shipped the item. Is he even aware you have a greivance?

We're talking about a $35 iMac. This probably isn't an organized crime ring. Have your parents send a certified letter addressed "To the parents of" requesting they help resolve the situation.

Well, I did send a reply via PM stating that if he didn't respond by a certain date I'd post him on the bad traders list (which I have), and take legal action. It seems that didn't work in gaining a reply, but it was worth a shot. I know it probably isn't an organized crime ring and if I want to send a certified letter I can do that... I'm over 18 ya know. Wink Anyways I've been communicating via private messages here at the fritter, since his email isnt shown (or I can't find it). Also the reason I sent a PM regarding his email address...

The key point is that you get in touch with his parents. I suspect that will get things resolved very quickly. I can't give out his email address, but I have emailed him myself. He'll get back to you or be banned.

Oh my god...

Iam sooo sorry. Sorry isnt enough. Do you want a refund, or the thing? I never had the time to ship. People may say "then don't sell!!!". Please lemme know what you want, either 2 of the above. If it works out, I will allow my self to be banned and never, ever come back, because no one would talk to me after this, so what's the point?
Again, Mods, and CubKid, I am truly sorry for the difficulties caused. I really dont want this to end up like the Steve Landon case, except this has nothing to do with rape. If possible, if I get banned, Please do a PERMANENT IP ban in case i ever slip. To whom it may concern, please reply. Thank you.

whoa...

First off, calm down, don't be so hard on yourself there. You've responded, that's a good start. I would still like to get the machine if you still wish to ship it since I've already landed the parts to repair what you mentioned was broken. I don't think you deserve to be banned, since you do help others and it's not my place to ban you, but you just need to pay attention a little bit more. Once you provide a tracking number of some sorts I'll remove the post at resellerratings, and it'll be said and done for. When it comes to stuff like this I'm pretty understanding and a bit leanient, but if the person doesnt go through, then I tend to be a bit rough. Let me know when/if you ship it, with tracking, that's all I ask. Smile If it's more than what I sent, I can pay the difference. If not, then we'll call it even. Sound okay to you?

Dunno what to say...

Please do not pay any more that the $32. I cant bring my self to ask "Oh, the post office sait it'll be $40,so please pay $8 more, then ill ship".Because I cant be emotionally mean, and after what happened, that wouldnt be fair of me. I'm thinking it out right now,packing/shipping,etc...I'll signoff, because I Think if i am on the "online" list, the question "he's here! what is he gonna say?" will pop into peoples minds, jus as it did when I say you on the list 5 mins. ago!
Thank you a lot, will post asap!
P.S: To the Moderators,I am minimizing my use of exclamation points in my posts, but I have to really say that it really expresses emotion a lot.

___

Every single time I try to subtly warn people about certain sellers and warn certain sellers about starting trades they clearly won't be serious about in a few hours' time, it goes unnoticed... In the future, I think I'll be a little clearer about what I mean.

PS- I ALSO think it would be a good idea to have profiles which contain a standard list of information, such as a user's age. While I do think some members would lie about their age to appear more "professional", quite a few wouldn't think about it while signing up and would not change it afterwards. Age generally = trustworthiness.

Take both of these comments with a not-excessively-small grain of salt. You may have no idea what I'm on about, you may or may not be one of the people they're directed at.

Yeah. but if you remember they used to say 'never trust anyone one over 30' This would rule me out since I aged up a year or so ago. Sad

This sounds kinda dumb, but wouldn't the older people be more trustworthy? My theory is they'd have more trading experience than some of the young'ns. I guess it could go either way I suppose.

Not only would they be more trustworthy, but they'd be aware of the consequences of taking one's sweet time to deliver the goods, or just not going ahead with their part of the deal thinking nobody will notice. Soo... they'd therefore be more trustworthy...

Sorry bout the rather stupid post but I'm hell sick and doped up on painkillers... I only just remember how to type.
