4.5v lithium battery?

Hey, has anyone come across a 4.5v lithium battery to replace the old square PRAM alkalines used in so many old macs?

double the life?

Yep, I noticed Tom had a guide earlier with your same idea:

Would three AA lithium batteries still give twice the life or more of one of the 4.5v alkalines?

RAYOVAC 4.5 volt alkaline battery

The battery you're looking for is the Rayovac 4.5 volt battery and can be had for $10.79 (including shipping) from http://www.macbattery.com. I have not priced three AA lithium batteries, but that might be more than $10? I've seen folks use other types of batteries, and since they are in use for so long, you want insure you're not going have one that will leak.

Good point

I've got a couple of Powermac 6500's and a 6400 with matching monitors. They make great computers for kids so I thought I'd try to sell them that way. I just wish I could sell them knowing the batteries aren't going to go out in a year or two, but I hadn't thought of leakage. That's a good point. The alkalines are probably the safest way to go. I wonder why the battery manufacturers didn't notice that there's a market there for 4.5v lithiums.
