Or possibly hacking it into the case?

Sorry I wasn't too clear... I

Sorry I wasn't too clear... I was in a rush. But yes I meant into the case. Sort-of similar to an LC3 (Mini-Itx). If it hasnt been done I might attempt it.

Centris

Not that I've seen, but here's a similar effort, which should give you some ideas:

Mini in Centris 660AV - same as Quadra 660AV/Centris/Quadra 610/Powermac 6100

There's a bit more room in the 610/660/6100 case, so it might be a tight squeeze to get the components you want into an LC. You might have to leave the Mini power supply outside the case to make enough room for a full size HD and optical. Or keep the low-profile optical from the Mini and cut a front panel slit for it.

He'll sell you an adapter for full-size ATA drives for $23. Course, if it's just a cosmetic and not a performance mod, you could use the original drives. Plenty of room then!

In my mind, the Mini is the 21st century LC, so they're a natural spiritual match. Do it, photograph it, post it. Smile

A few more

iMac in LCIII

iBook in LC

If you want a front slot for the optical drive, look for an LC with a full-width groove level with the flopy slot, rather than a smooth face. It'll make cutting out your wider slot easier, and better looking.

That's really cool. Thanks for the link!

I think one cool & cheap addition to a project like that would be adding a relay from the mini to the Centris power supply. The Centris PSU could be left in 'on' position, with the relay acting as a new switch, triggered by the mini. Same process as used in CCs with second PSUs.

Yeah, dive in and make one. I'd love to see it.
