Help!

I snagged myself an Apple ][C Plus, and the thing works great, except that outside of the system disk I have no software for it. Seeing as it uses 3.5 disks, I figured I'd be able to get software over to it quite easily. MISTAKE.

I've tried this tutorial and two others like it. I've spent an ENTIRE EVENING trying the steps provided over and over with no result. The "BINSCII" program refuses to work at all. I carefully strip the resource fork out and give it the proper file type, copy the program to the disk, and get beeped at with a bunch of "SYNTAX ERROR"s when I type in the command that allegedly makes it act like a real Apple ][ program.

So I'm going to ask a pretty useless question: does anyone out there have an Apple ][ with a working copy of the programs "BINSCII" and/or "SHRINKIT" on 3.5 floppy, and can he/she make a disk image of that floppy that I can just write back to a real disk?

PM me your email address. I can make a copy of shrinkit on 3.5 on my IIgs later and email you the image.

By the way. . .

. . . you can daisy chain other floppy drives to this machine, including the 5.35" floppy drives. Have fun.

Cool!

Glad I could help. Let me know if you need anything else on 3.5".
As a suggestion, go ahead and pick up a 5.25" drive, since most of the software is on 5.25" format (and converting it to run on a 3.5" is a needless pain, unless is a ProDos app).

Rich

Yeah, I made sure to ge

Yeah, I made sure to get one when I got the ][C+. Too bad I forgot to get a joystick, though. Can old-style Wintel Gameport joysticks be made to work?

Joysticks

You know, I seem to remember seeing some dual IBM/Apple joysticks back in the day. I do remember my buddy having an analog type joystick for his tandy, but I don't know if it used the gameport DB-15 interface. I don't think it did, I think it might have been a DB-9 9 pin interface.

I don't think you'll easily be able to adapt a current gameport pc joystick to the IIc though.

. . . dual machine joysticks. . .

Yup they were made, but they had a switch on them that changed the pin configuration for each different machine.

P.S. I have several nice CH Apple II compatible joysticks. Any one can PM me with an offer and we'll discuss it.
