I need a driver hack for Panther. I have a LG 8080B which is compatible with 8042b drivers. I don't want to use Patch Burn, which is messy.
Thanks macme

I assume ye refer to the LG optical drive from circa 2001/2002, not some sort of cellphone model. No extra driver is needed, it's already installed in the system.
And PatchBurn is "messy"? How so? And as the 8080 is a DVD/CD-ROM reader (unless I'm not Recalling-Correctly), why would you want it anyway?
*** lightbulb goes off over head *** - you wonder perhaps why your 8080 isn't recognized as a burner by the system . . . ?

I have an LG 8080b CDRW 4/8/32. I don't know exactly what Patch burn does. Does it simply rewrite on of the driver files, that would be the same thing as what I am trying to do.
It's pretty easy to setup Patch-burn. I set it up for an HP-CD-RW 8100+ (plus). within about 5 minutes. That included restarts. it's even recognized by iTunes and the finder. all you have to do is set it for what it is capable of, and then make the profile. It took me 2 restarts, and then i got it going
You could always just use toast titanium. It supports any burner up to date if you buy the newest version. Sure it won't add any compatibility but at least then you'll be able to burn stuff.
It is pretty minimal. If I have any problems with it, I will find out how to modify the driver manually.
