boot problem

I have my hard disc connected on the secondary IDE on the main board, as master.
On the primary IDE I have my dvd on slave and cdrw on master.
The problem is that when I enter in windows, there is no dvd or cd-rw device in "My Computer", and when i chacked in bios, there is written that there is nothing installed on the primary IDE.
So what can I do to make work my dvd and cd-rw? Help

How are you setting primary and secondary in IDE?

Are you using jumpers or are you using the cable?

In troubleshooting, its best to start by simplifying and testing. Are you using good cables? Connections are all tight and no bent pins? If you swap cables with the drive and the opticals does one fail? Can you pull the CD and have the DVD show up? Can you move them around and get feedback?

just some ideas to get you started.

If all else fails, well, you know. Get a Mac. Wink

primary and secondary....

have you tried putting your hard drive on the primary channel, and you removeable media on secondary? (i.e. just swap the cables on the motherboard)

Re: boot problem

when i chacked in bios, there is written that there is nothing installed on the primary IDE.

In your bios, does it actually say 'None' on your primary IDE? If so, set it to Auto.
