Does anyone here know if the IR on the front of the macbook pro is strictly for the Apple remote or can it be used to sync a PDA such as a Tungsten|w?
Thanks!

Unlikely...in order to communicate with handhelds, the IR transceiever has to be IrDA compliant, which the MacBook Pro isn't advertised as being. Also, for Front Row, all that's needed is an IR receiver (not transmitter), so it's unlikely Apple went to the extra expense.
$2000 and they couldn't even throw in an IrDA transmitter.
Thanks!
