SE/30 E-Mail ?

Has anyone experimented with getting an SE/30 online for e-mail lately? I had several online about two or three years ago. I'd like to try to get one of them doing e-mail again, if that is still possible.

Get a dialup account, a modem

Get a dialup account, a modem, and a POP3 client and go at it. Or are you looking to route it through a broadband connection?

Yep, plenty of SE/30s online for email

I just checked my email on my SE/30. Smile Been using it every day for about a year now.

I use a 48Mhz Turbo040 in mine, because Eudora Pro 4 is such a fattie, but with a reasonable email client the SE/30 is plenty fast enough!

The SE/30 is one of the best machines for this purpose: it's so much faster than the other compacts, but still has their attractive form and shape.

In fact, if you're willing to jump through some hoops, it's even (mostly) easy to check GMail with these old guys: http://www.fenestrated.net/~macman/68kMail/

Is there really no other solution? I would like to use gmail on my SE/30 w/o iCab, but without the use an intermediate computer. I thought maybe there was hope with Mulberry or Green mail, but haven't tried these.

Gmail does [url=http://mail.g

Gmail does POP. Get a 68k client that does POP (with SSL and TLS) and have at it. Wink

That's what I meant by not using a browser. :mac: I don't know of a 68k email client with SLL & TLS support.

I'm pretty sure there is not

I'm pretty sure there is not 68k email client that does POP, SSL, TLS, and SMTP AUTH. That's why I wrote the article.

You don't need the helper to be in your house, it just needs to be _somewhere_. If you or a friend has an internet server that you can install software on, it's just as easy to use that as to use a local helper.
