Hello everyone!
I recently acquired a G3 All-In-One that is in working condition except for the internal display. I narrowed the problem down to the flyback transformer (the 75 V pin is open) and have already removed it from the circuit board.
Where can I get a replacement transformer?
Thanks for any help
Phil
humm thats a hard one, i was wondering the same thing if mine went out of my AIO. have you tryed going to a tv repair man they should know by looking at it.
I went to a few local shops and was given the evil eye and a curt "NO!" when asking if they had any flyback transformers for Apple computers. Local Apple dealer Ray (always very helpful and friendly - www.mantek.mb.ca) gave me a G3 AIO chassis (no motherboard) but it has a bad flyback transformer as well.
I found some sources in the USA:

http://www.bluestar-online.com/category_s/99.htm
But I would like to find a Canadian source.
The transformer part # is 6174Z-1009A.
They gave you the evil eye because they wanted to get the labor fees for replacing it for you more than the small profit from selling you the flyback directly. You're probably saving a bit by buying it online anyway. Of course, tht's if you do find your local CAN suppier to save on shipping and taxes.
sweet, thanks for the info. they are not as much as i would have thought. i bet the crt replacement would be allot tho. but if it came down to it i would have to try the lcd modd
The problem with replacing the transformer rather than using an external monitor is that you will likely never find an actual Apple transformer, because they're all broken.
So your best bet is to find the exact part it is and try a local electronics shop for it.
