OS 7.5.3 menu titled "Student"

I have a CC and I got a 600e CD rom drive...I couldnt get it to mount so i took the 300i cd software that i have and i ran the install, i thought that it would make it mount, i was wrong. it didnt and the CD rom software was already there.

anyhow, after that was done i believe this new menu appeard. when i click on it, the choice to log off is there and it asks for a user to allow this, but I never had a user or password before so i am pretty stuck. Now, the plan for this machine is to have the external HD i have re-formatted for a nice fresh machine...so why is this "student" menu an issue? well i think it has something to do with the fact that I can no longer movie files from the external HD to the desktop, i was given some message about not having sufficent access or something like that.

So, anyone know what i could do?

Kevin

Guessing

1) Try booting with Shift down. Still there?
2) Still there, huh? OK, boot from another disk and have a poke around in the Extensions and Control Panels folders.

You could also try holding down the Space bar to jump into the Extensions Manager, if that early version had such an ability, I don't recall.

Note that the software in question may disallow one/both/all of these.

Sorry if these seem "elementary," maybe one will work though when the others won't.

Machinjosh-
I dont think these are "elementary" the fact that i got to this situation shows my lack of classic OS skills. I will take any advice i can get. I will try these.

Thank you

Classic Macs

S'cool, bro Biggrin

We all start somewhere, and there are still things for everyone to learn.
Let me know how those work out for you.

didnt work

Well, those didnt work. its got it all locked up in this user, i cant even change anything on the control panel, i cant even alter my date and time.
i would like to logg off this student user, but i dont have any information on another user to log in as.

i guess i will have to take the HD out, have it as an external on another classic machine, backup the data off it and then wipe it, then put it back in the CC and do a fresh instal of 7.5 on it. which is where i want to get to anyhow.

thanks for the help.
